A former two term federal lawmaker in Ogun State, Hon. Kayode Jelili Amusan has described the passage of former Minister of State for Finance, Sen Jubril Martins Kuye on Sunday as a personal loss to him, describing the late PDP leader as someone who used his political leadership and astuteness to better the lot of many during his lifetime.
Hon. Kayode Amusan, while paying glowing tributes to the Ago Iwoye born politician in a statement personally signed by him recalled how JMK, as he was fondly called, against all odds and conspiracy made his dream to represent Abeokuta North/Odeda/Obafemi Owode federal constituency at the House of Representatives in 2003 possible.
The former federal lawmaker and one time PDP governorship aspirant in Ogun State said that Sen Jubril Martins Kuye was no doubt his political mentor and huge benefactor who shaped his view on politics, work, above all selfless service to the people, insisting that his death has further depleted rank of leaders who meant well for the country.
Amusan said, “I woke up to this terrible news that my benefactor and political mentor Senator Jubril Martins Kuye, who hugely shaped my view on political life, work, and many other things, has passed away. I have never met someone as equally impressive, smart and grounded as Senator Jubril Martins Kuye.
“It is not that common at this stage of our careers to have a political figure who shaped our intellect, interest, and life in general, not that alone, he put his political weight behind me when some people conspired to deny me of the House of Representative ticket during my 2003 first term aspiration. But Senator Jubril Martins Kuye made that dream a reality against all odds and evil conspirators.
“He stood by me during the struggle to give back to my people, he provided leadership without sentiment and counsel without animosity. Senator Jubril Martins Kuye, truly it is appointed unto man to live and die once, even with all that you have done while on earth, the testimony of your good deed has rubbed on my career fulfillment and political progression.
“You carved your name on hearts, not tombstones. A legacy is etched into the minds of others and the stories they share about you. You shall forever remain in our hearts and greatly missed.
“May Almighty Allah in his infinite mercy grant you merciful Aljana Fridous.”
