I have never borrowed a dime to execute projects — Gov. Adeleke
By Jeleel Olawale
The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke has declared that his administration did not borrow money to execute laudable projects in the state, saying his administration has taken the state to another level.
Adeleke who made this known at the “Ipade Imole” to mark his Mid-Term stewardship, held in Osogbo on Wednesday, said when he assumed office, the financial situation of the state was so worrisome that he could not attempt to borrow to add to the debt profile of the state.
“I called my cabinet members to sit-up by working assiduously for the development of the state. I looked at Osogbo, the state capital and I concluded that this is not a modern state capital and decided to give it a face lift.
“I didn’t collect the security vote as a governor, I did this in the interest of the state. I have the interest of the state at hearth. So, we are moving the state forward,” he said.
Adeleke further noted that his administration has touched all sectors of the economy in the state, stressing that before the end of his government, another five-point agenda would be unveiled to further drive the state economy.
“I began to pray to God and God revealed to me that everything would be better. As a governor, I don’t know how good things are happening but it is the will of God. God has been wonderful to us.
He stated further; “I told my cabinet members that we are going to work for the state, they all key into my agenda. People erroneously believe that I am not brilliant because of my dancing. I am serious when it comes to this.
“I blocked financial linkages and this assisted our administration to deliver these gigantic achievements. There is financial prudence and due diligence in our government,” Adeleke declared.
Adeleke said in the last two years, his administration has recorded significant milestones in all sectors of the state economy, ranging from construction of over 150 kilometers of roads, upgrading of 290 classrooms, renovation of 99 junior schools, among other achievements.
