How police arrest specialised lister power generators thieves in Ondo

Ondo State Police Command has arrested three persons who specialised in stealing lister power generating engines.
The leader of the gang, Babajide Moses, who confessed to the crime while speaking with journalists on Tuesday at the police headquarters, disclosed that he usually went to different locations in Akure where lister engines are being used and would loose them before eventually carting them away.
According to Moses, he usually engaged some malams to help him carry the engines from the locations to the nearest bus stop where he would look for a vehicle to charter that would help him take it to Owode Onirin, Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State.
The 38 years old man said that he was arrested by the Police in Ilesha while on his way to Lagos with two lister engines he stole from FUTA North Gate area of Akure, the Ondo State capital.
But the driver of an 18-seater Mazda bus, Bolaji Arowolo, who carried the generators said he didn’t know they were stolen goods.
Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said the owners of the lister engines contacted the police on Monday night that their generators had been stolen and the ivestigations led to the arrest of the culprits when police chased them to Ilesha where they were arrested along Akure/Ilesha Expressway.
Odunlami, however, assured that when the investigation is concluded, they would be arraigned.
