How Osun PDP Chairman is playing politics with the killing of Oyegunju, APC member, in Ikire
The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described the appointed sit-tight state caretaker committee chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Akindele Adekunle, as an unmitigated disaster who relishes in dishing out series of falsehoods to run his embattled party.
The state acting chairman of the APC, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement issued by the party’s State Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo, the Osun State capital yesterday, stated that it was a pity that the ruling party could be parading such a tricky and crafty character who specializes in fallacy and untruth, as his tools of engagement to administer the party.
Lawal who hinted that he listened to the permanent Osun State PDP caretaker chairman in a radio programme, ‘Frank Talk’ monitored in Osogbo yesterday observed that the Ondo State-born controversial state caretaker chairman whose tenure has expired exhibited the traits of someone who is either not co-ordinated or not in tune with the operations of the sacked Governor Ademola Adeleke-led administration.
He explained that it was an act of wickedness, mischief, roguery, knavery and deviltry for the expired appointed PDP caretaker chairman to be playing politics with the killing of Saheed Oyegunju, Ward 9 APC treasurer in Ikire, in Irewole Local Government Council Area of Osun State, by the PDP thugs led by one Segun Adegoke, the owner of Country Lodge, Ikire and Akeem Oriade who were said to be fronting for Akogun Lere Oyewumi, the PDP candidate for the Osun-West Senatorial District, in the forthcoming general elections.
Lawal explained that it was disturbing, worrisome and disheartening that Akindele could play down the killing of a fellow human being by the members of his party on the day of Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign rally in Osogbo, in such an unconcerned manner as if blood is not flowing in his veins.
Lawal observed that the Osun State PDP caretaker committee chairman who got appointed because of his long affinity with the Adeleke family could state that Oyegunju who was initially abducted in Ikire before he was found dead in the outskirt of the town was a cultist.
The state APC chairman said: “Assuming without conceding that Oyegunju a.k.a. ‘SP’ was a cultist, what was the propriety or justification of him being killed extra-judicially by the political thugs working for Oyewumi?
“The killing of Oyegunju was more pathetic and worrisome because his abductors were reported to have made a phone call to the Osun West PDP senatorial candidate before the deceased was led to where he was killed.
“Were Oyegunju to be Akindele’s relation, would he have treated his murder in such a passive and lackadaisical manner when he was commenting on it during the radio interview programme?
“Is the senatorial ambition of Oyewumi worth the blood of Oyegunju whose life was cut short prematurely by the political hoodlums working for the PDP senatorial candidate?”, Lawal asked.
He enjoined the police to show more convincing interest in arresting, investigating and prosecuting both the mastermind and the foot soldiers of the Ikire heinous crime if actually Oyewumi is not greater than the law of the land.
The state Acting Chairman also said that he discovered that another embarrassment caused the sacked Governor Adeleke administration is the absolute denial of someone who calls himself the party chairman of the ruling party that neither the party nor the embattled government knew anything about the forceful withdrawal of vehicles from the 31 market women leaders(Iyalojas) in the state last week.
