…House burnt
A former presidential candidate campaign coordinator for Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 presidential election, Olatunde Ogunniyi, also known as Jayeola, has again had another hit from the opposition party.
According to a source, Ogunniyi, who had escaped two assassination attempts from his attackers in 2019 was said to have fled to the United States of America since the first quarter of year 2020.
But it was however gathered that the attacks and violence against perceived opposition has recently resumed across the country because of the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
The source who preferred anonymity while narrating how Ogunniyi has vacated his house in Alagbaka, Akure, the Ondo state capital since 2020 for the fear of not being killed, said if the perpetrators had met him, they would have killed him right there.
He wondered why Ogunniyi became the target of these hoodlums again on May 30, 2022 who had not been seen since then but burnt his house.
The source said some big cars with dark glasses were noticed driving in and out of his Alagbaka residence saying the hoodlums may have thought he has come back in preparation of the election.
“We even heard new information now that his house was to be taken over as rented apartment by new businessmen as he would not have risked any politician around his premises. No life was lost in the unfortunate incident,” the source added.
Nevertheless, the whereabouts of Ogunniyi is not yet known as he had not been seen since then.
Police source said the men from the state command are working seriously in order to get the hoodlums arrested and bring them to book.
