Some hoodlums suspected to be political thugs of the opposition parties, have attacked a chieftain and Councillor Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo state, Alabi Victor Olawumi

Nigerian NewsDirect gathered on Sunday that the candidate was seriously injured at his residence.

Alabi, who described the Sunday’s attack by the suspected opposition thugs as an indication to terminate his life before the 2024 Local Government election in the state because of his popularity and his intentions to bring dividend of democracy to the constituents

He, however, condemned the attack, saying it was ‘uncalled for.’

“Though I was surprised with the degree of damages done on me  by these criminals, but I thank God for my life, I am still alive.

“I was in my house on that faithful day, June 18th, 2023, when these hoodlums came with their numbers, my thinking was that they were just thugs maybe they want me to give them money and go but unfortunately I realized that these hoodlums were sent to attack me by my opponents.

“I want to call on well meaning Nigerians to please come to my aides because my life is seriously at risk at the moment, I am no longer save in this state and county again,” he said.

Alabi, also demanded that the perpetrators of this heinous crime and their sponsors be brought to book, no matter how highly placed, in order to stem the ugly trend.

However, efforts made by Nigerian NewsDirect to reach the Ondo State police spokesperson, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya for reaction proved abortive as calls put through to her telephone number didn’t go through.
