The Kogi branch of the Council of Ulama has directed Muslims across the state to commence special prayers against insecurity and other violent crimes in the country.
The Chairman of the council, Alhaji Salman Adam made the call on Tuesday in Lokoja in a statement issued to commemorate the new Islamic year 1443 AH.
According to him, the prayer session should hold on daily basis in all the 21 council areas until the country is able to overcome the security challenges.
The statement also charged Muslims to use the celebration of the new Islamic year to seek God’s guidance for President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders in their efforts to find solutions to the myriads of problems facing the country.
The council praised Gov. Yahaya Bello for his untiring efforts at ensuring peace and security across the state, urging him not to relent.
Adam applauded the people of the state for living together in peace and harmony in spite of differences in religion, asking them to continue to sustain the relationship in the interest of growth and develooment of the state.
