HGN ready to partner NPF to combat crime in our Communities – HGN commandant General
…seeks speedy passage of the bill from NASS.
Chief Oguniyi Balogun, the Lagos state commander of Hunter’s Group of Nigeria(HGN) has reiterated HGN’scommitment to tackle crime in the state. He also said that the group is ready to work hand in hand with The Nigerian Police and other security agencies to make the state crime free.
The state commander stated this in his speech during the inauguration of HGN which was held last Saturday in collaboration with The Nigerian Police Force at the Police College,Ikeja, Lagos. According to Chief Oguniyi, “Our vision is to prevent crime in our communities and we intend to partner with NPF through joint patrols to reduce communal killings,kidnappings, cultism, and to assist the Police in identifying and bringing solutions to community crimes.”
He also said, ‘The group is saddled with the responsibility of serving as the eye of the Police in our various communities. This is a proactive step in combating crimes and also for community crime awareness campaigns.”
Oguniyi also emphasized the objectives of the group which are tilted towards improving the quality and performance of officers and HGN personnel who are currently engaged in the protection of various public infrastructure and who provide security services within the communities.
Also speaking at the inauguration, the Commandant General of HGN, Amb. Osatimehin Joshua appreciated the cooperation and support of Nigerians towards HGN, while further seeking the support of the National Assembly (NASS) towards the speedy passage of the bill to legally establish the HGN.
He also enjoined the good people of the state to corporate with his men in their various communities so as to maintain peace and harmony, charging them to be more vigilant and to report any strange act capable of truncating the peace to available security operatives. He emphasized that the responsibility for community security rests with everybody.
The event was witnessed by Nigerian traditional rulers, and market women and men among others.
