He’s everywhere on pitch – Szoboszlai names Real Madrid midfielder as hardest opponent ever
RB Leipzig midfielder, Dominik Szoboszlai has named Real Madrid ace, Luka Modric as the hardest opponent he has faced on the pitch.
Szoboszlai said that Modric is everywhere on the pitch, adding that the Croatian international is always one step ahead.
The 22-year-old has faced Modric just twice as an opponent in his career (in March 2019 when Hungary defeated Croatia 2-1 in the UEFA 2020 Euros qualifier and when Real Madrid defeated RB Leipzig 2-0 in the UEFA Champions League group stage earlier this season).
When asked by a fan to name the hardest opponent he has faced so far in his career, the Hungary international replied, via MadridUniversal: “Modric. He was – when we played against Real Madrid – simply everywhere on the pitch.
“If I turned to the left, he was there. If I went to the right, he was there. If I tried to go forward, he was one step ahead of me. When I turned around, he was already behind me. So yeah, that is why I would say, ‘him’.”
