Herdsmen attack village, kill farmers, destroy farms, businesses
Favour Uche Ojeifoh, a young Nigerian man, almost lost his life when Fulani herdsmen attacked his village, Ayilomo in Logo local government of Benue State on Wednesday, 30th October, 2024. He lost his entire family, farms and business that day.
According to eyewitness accounts, the herdsmen rode into the village on motorcycles around 7pm and suddenly opened, killing at least 15 people and injuring many more in the process.
Ayilomo, being a farming community, most of the villagers had just returned from their farms and were resting in their homes on that fateful evening when the dastardly attack was carried out. The murderous herdsmen set the villagers’ farms ablaze, destroyed houses and whatever businesses they could lay their hands on.
The Fulani herdsmen forced some survivors to convert to Islam, while others who refused to be converted were beaten black and blue.
It was during one of such persecutions that Favour escaped and has not been seen or heard from. Even his friends and fellow farmers have not been able to ascertain his whereabouts.
Meanwhile, the police and other law enforcement agencies continue their investigation to bring the killers to book.
