A former member of the House of Representatives and former Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has said that Nigerian NewsDirect Founding Publisher, Dr Samuel Ibiyemi made a lasting impression on his life.
In a condolence letter to the family, Dr Dakuku Peterside expressed his sympathy and condolences to the Family of the Late Publisher.
“Though he passed unexpectedly when his talent and experience was most needed, we won’t lose hope because of the warmth and kindness with which he touched too many persons. We will deeply miss him, but his closely knitted family will miss him dearly,” he lamented.
Speaking further, Dr Dakuku acknowledged how Dr Ibiyemi gave him a free platform on NewsDirect to do a weekly column.
He noted that there are a few journalists that he has met that left a lasting impression in his mind like Dr Samuel Ibiyemi.
“He was resourceful, humble, God-lover, encourager, and a significant opinion moulder,” Dakuku continued.
He added that it “is impossible to overstate the contribution of Dr Sam Ibiyemi to the development of maritime, energy and business/financial reporting.”
“He also made his mark in the field of entrepreneurship navigating through publishing and hospitality Industries. Dr. Samuel will be missed by both the great and the poor amongst us.”
Dr Dakuku also prayed that God will give the family the strength to bear the loss.
