Hadejia Emirate Council has flagged off the annual Emirate Zakkat distribution exercise at Lafiya Village, Guri District in Guri local govt area.
During the distribution farm produce and animals worth over 40 milliion Naira were distributed to the needy in the district.
The farm produce distributed includes 508 bags of Rice, 97 bags of Maize, 5 Cattles 1 Goat and 8 Sheeps respectively.
Declaring, the annual Emirate Zakkat distribution exercise open, His Royal Highness, the Emir of Hadejia, Alh Dr Adamu Abubakar Maje seized the occasion to call on the wealthy Individuals among the society to give out Zakkat when due.
He expressed satisfaction with concerted efforts of the Guri District for the collection of zakkat grains and animals from the wealthy individuals among them.
In his address, the Hadejia emirate zakkat committee chairman who is the Talban Hadejia, Barr. Abdulfatah Abdulwahab commended the Emir for giving his committee the mandate to collect zakkat from those who deserve to give out zakkat among the people and give it out uprightly to the needy in the emirate.
In his remarks, the Secretary of the committee, Engr. Samaila Barde stated that the zakkat of goods and animals were collected across 10 villages within Guri District and would be distributed to the needy at the same District.
Delivering a vote of thanks, the Chairman of Guri local govt council, Hon. Musa Shaaibu Muhammed Guri praised the Emir for selecting his local govt for the flag off of this year emirate zakkat distributions.
He further commended the District Head of Guri and his village heads for their commitment to collect zakkat from farmers.
