Gusau never proposed an abridged league in our meeting – Kpalukwu

The Nigeria Professional Football League Club Owners Association have rejected plans for an abridged league for the 2023/24 season.

Chairman of the newly elected Club Owners Association, Okey Kpalukwu stated that at no point was a decision to have an abridged season discussed or agreed by members with anyone.

The newly appointed executives of the association met with the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Musa Gusau last week in Abuja.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the NFF President didn’t tell Club Owners and others present at the meeting that the 2023/24 season will be an abridged league”, he stated to a section of the media.

“For now, we await the proposed meeting with the NFF and NPFL where decisions on the league commencement date, form, and other key decisions will be decided.

“Let’s not be in a hurry so that we don’t put the cart before the horse.”
