A policeman and two other person’s were on Tuesday kidnapped by unknown gunmen at Anune, along Makurdi — Naka road in Gwer West local Government Area of the State.
Chairman of Gwer West local Government Council, Hon. Andrew Ayande confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with Nigerian NewsDirect, disclosed that the incident occurred at about 4 pm while some mourners were returning from Naka to Makurdi after attending a burial.
He explained that the attackers did not know that the persons were mourners.
“We lost one prominent person and the corpse was billed to be taken home for burial on Monday. And yesterday the people came as usual and attacked the vehicle conveying the people. The vehicle has since been taken to Naka police station. They are always doing that around Anune.
“A police man and two others were kidnapped and they are demanding 200,000 for the Police officer, one million for the woman and 500,000 for the another person,” Ayande lamented.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations’Officer, Benue State Command, SP Catherine Anene said she was yet to receive brief of the incident.
Nigerian NewsDirect reports that sometime ago, the Divisional Police Officer for Naka was killed by gunmen during an exchange of gun duel.
