Gunmen kidnap Edo APC Chairman, demand N5m
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly abducted Ugu ward 9 chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State.
The victim, Mr. Godwin Aigbogun, 55, was said to be returning from his farm when the hoodlums waylaid him at gunpoint and whisked him into the bush.
The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, at Ologbo-nugu community.
The APC chairman’s abductors have contacted his relatives and demanded N5 million ransom, NewsDirect learnt.
A relative of the victim who did not want his name mentioned said local vigilantes have been mobilized into the bush to rescue the politician.
Comrade Godwin Erhahon, an ex-publicity Secretary of the APC who is from Ologbo-nugu community called on the police to ensure the release of Aigbogun.
Edo State Police Command Spokesman, Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the incident, adding that police operatives have been deployed to the bush to “rescue the victim unhurt and possibly arrest the kidnappers.”
