Unknown gunmen in the early hours of today, Sunday stormed Ashaka police station in Delta state’s Ndokwa East local government area, setting fire to the station and a patrol truck, but no one was killed and no weapon were taken.
According to Acting Police Public Relations Officer Edafe Bright, armed men, about 20 of them arrived to the police station at 1 a.m., threw explosives at it, shot sporadically, then set fire to the station and van.
The police in Delta say despite the unprovoked attacks they will continue to provide adequate security to every community in Delta.
In another development, six suspected kidnappers and armed robbers have been killed during a gun battle with the police and an AK 47 rifle, one pump action gun, one AK 47 magazine with 25 live ammunition were recovered.
