Guber/HoA polls: Sanwo-Olu assures peaceful election, warns troublemakers

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured Lagosians of peaceful elections in the State on Saturday (tomorrow), saying “there is no need for fear.”
The Governor in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Lagos, Mr. Gbenga Omotoso said residents of the State should go about their civic responsibility of exercising franchise without fear, warning those planning to foment trouble would face the wrath of the law.
The statement reads: “Following the recent announcement of some customary rites by Traditional Rulers, the Government wishes to assure ALL residents of the security of lives and properties in the State.
“Whilst the State Government reiterates the Freedom of Religion, it also cautions that Traditional Institutions holding this Customary Rites should ensure that these activities do not infringe on the fundamental rights of all the citizens who are not of this faith, especially during the course of the elections.
“Consequent upon this, Lagos State Residents are advised to go about their civic duties as the State Government will ensure that all security personnel are at the alert to guarantee the peace and safety of the lives of the good citizens of Lagos State, before, during and after the elections.
“Anybody planning to foment trouble will have the law to contend with. Our state is peaceful and it will remain so.”
