Security Awareness Initiative (SAI), has commended the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Maj.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, for pledging to give priority to the welfare of personnel and veterans of the Nigerian Army.
The group, which spoke through its Convener, Mr Adamu Bello, in a statement on Thursday, said the promise made by the COAS recently in Ibadan was a welcome development.
It said the promise would go a long way in boosting the morale of personnel involved in different operations across the country to restore peace and stability.
According to the group, any leader who identifies with the welfare of his troops, is encouraging them to do their best for the country.
SAI urged troops of the need to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that they performed their duties diligently.
The group also commended the readiness of Lagbaja to synergise with other services and security agencies for effective and efficient operations towards ensuring a secure Nigeria.
“SAI commended the COAS for queueing behind the directive of President Bola Tinubu for the military to operate in synergy amongst themselves.
“We urge Nigerians to cooperate with the new leadership of the Army to ensure their success,” it said.
