A sociopolitical group, The Osun Masterminds, (TOM) has called on the State Government on the need of follow due process in the awards of contracts.
The Executive Director of the Organisation, Prof Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli made the call in Osogbo, stating that proper assessment must be done on intended projects before embarking on them.
Oyedokun-Alli said, “We are however concerned about the spread of the projects in terms of location and advise the government to review his spread of the projects to reflect concern for all parts of the state.
“We are equally worried that contracts awarded are not being advertised as provided for by the law. We can’t for the purpose of political correctness and the need to deliver campaign promises continue to break the law. It won’t be in the best interest of the state.
“We challenge the Governor to put in place a team for quality assurance lest we buy less quality with unavailable funds.
“We again reiterate that Government must ensure that it does proper needs assessment of intended projects before embarking on them. This is to ensure that the State does not continue to execute projects that are not in tandem with new developmental realities and needs of the societies that make up the State. Projects should not be projects for projects sake, but for needs sake,” he said.
Addressing the issues of the boreholes projects, the group demanded that the government should account for the finances spent on building the projects, for the purpose of record and accountability.
