Gov’ship, state assembly polls; I will accept the election outcome if fairness is adhered – Alia

Titus Atondu, Makurdi

The Benue State All Progressives Congress, (APC) governorship candidate, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has disclosed that if fairness is played throughout the election process, he is ever willing to accept the result that is pronounced at the end of the election.

Rev. Fr. Alia made the disclosure while fielding questions from journalists shortly after casting his vote in his country home at Bako polling unit at Mbangur, Mbadede, Vandeikya Local Government Area.

He explained that democracy liberates and creates room for freedom and level playing ground for everyone.

“Why should we have any reservation at the end of the result? I made my plea with the INEC for peace to flourish and I still maintain that. I call for peace and urge my fellow contesters to play by the rules. This is the pivotal things as I feel that INEC as referee will be fair”.

“So far from our axis in Zone A under Vandeikya LGA in Ihugh area in Mbadede, this is my traditional home everything here is calm. We are all happy that the day has come and we know that the day is ours. The day to liberate the life of the Benue people is here. Am so happy that I performed my civic responsibility to vote, of course, appropriately. Am the right person to get in there and salvage the state and better the lives of the people”, Alia said.

He kudos INEC for improvement in the conduct of the election, particularly in the functionality of the Biomodal Voters Accreditation System, (BVAS).

“From the few complaints I received from the last time, there is enormous improvement. Thank God for those who were making noise that the BVAS were not going to be counted. I think what we as Nigerians, we can’t at all times be perfect. So, we should appreciate that we have victories from where we were as Nigerians in yester years. So, INEC has made tremendous improvement in today’s election. So far, even in security we have not heard any breach. There is immediate response in areas where there were pockets of violence,” Alia stressed.
