Governor Adeleke inspects road project, expresses satisfaction with progress

..As NSE commends Governor’s decision to engage local content

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke on Friday inspected the ongoing road project in the state capital, expressing satisfaction with the progress made so far.

Governor Adeleke, who tour the Oke-fia flyover project, Osogbo, state capital, alongside with the national leaders of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) led by Engr. Margaret Oguntala urged the contractor to maintain the current pace to ensure timely completion.

Speaking at the Oke-fia flyover site Adeleke reiterated his commitment to delivering a modern capital city, stating that the contractor has demonstrated capability in delivering quality roads and bridges.

He assured that his administration will continue to support the project to ensure its completion.

According to Governor, “I am not a Governor that just sits in the office, I have been monitoring the project from the government house, but I had to come and see for myself because I am in a hurry to deliver. I wish they will continue at this pace so we can commission the road.

“What they are doing here is a good job, in line with my campaign to deliver a good capital city. The contractor handling the project has shown that they are capable of delivering quality road and bridges across the the areas they are sited. I am satisfied with the quality of work being done”, he said.

Earlier, while receiving the national leaders of the Nigerian Society of Engineers at the Governors House, Adeleke emphasized the importance of infrastructure development in facilitating economic growth and good governance.

He expressed confidence in his technical team comprising members of the engineering society who are working tirelessly to deliver quality projects across the state.

He said, “What you saw at Osogbo is small. Construction is ongoing across the 30 local governments and area council.

“In 2023, I announced an ambitious infrastructure plan across the sectors. Many doubted our capacity to implement the various projects.

“To the glory of God, we have proved critics wrong. We have shown that we have the will, the capacity and the knowledge to achieve our goals.

“We are determined to take Osun to greater heights. We have demonstrated strong passion to bridge the infrastructure gap in Osun state,” he added.

Speaking during the tour of the roads and bridges projects in the state, there President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Margaret Oguntala commended the Ademola of work being done on Osun State’s infrastructure projects.

Oguntala lauded Governor Ademola Adeleke’s commitment to local content by employing Nigerian engineers to deliver the projects.

She said, “There is no doubt that the quality of job being done is of standard and we are very impressed.

“The Governor’s decision to engage local content and employ Nigerian engineers is a testament to his confidence in indigenous talent”.
