The President, Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, (NIESV), Sir Emmanuel Wike says the Lagos state governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has not asked estate surveyors and valuers to leave the state.
Speaking at the 27th J.W Ekpeyoung Memorial Lecture in Lagos on Friday, he said Lagos state sued the professional body over its regulation in the state.
According to him, “We never went to court to say that Lagos state doesn’t have right to regulate us. what we are saying is that you cannot regulate estate surveyors and valuers since we have a regulating body.
“We have lawyers who are estate surveyors and valuers. We also have a legal team that is handling that matter. In as much we lost at the federal court, we have the right to appeal and I have also discussed it with the Chairman of the Estate Surveyor and Valuers registration board.
“The two bodies have agreed that we will look at the judgement and see if we have the right to appeal. Lagos state has not asked estate surveyors and valuers to leave the state.”
