Gov. Oyebanji authorizes work from home policy for employees in Ekiti

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved a new work-from-home policy for civil servants in the state.

In a statement issued on Friday by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, in Ado Ekiti, the governor explained that this policy is intended to alleviate the impact of the current economic challenges on state employees.

The policy, set to begin on Monday, September 9, 2024, excludes essential personnel such as teachers, critical healthcare workers, and security staff.

Under the new guidelines, employees in grades 01-07 will be permitted to work from home three days per week. Those in grades 08-12 will work from home two days a week, while employees in grades 13-17 will work from home one day each week.

Each government agency has been instructed to develop a feasible schedule for implementing this policy to ensure that it does not compromise service delivery.

The policy will be in effect for an initial two-month period, with ongoing reviews based on current conditions.

Oyebode further clarified that this new arrangement will not impact other government initiatives, including the monthly wage awards for workers and pensioners or the free bus service available to workers and students.

“The Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji administration remains dedicated to the welfare of its workers and will continue to implement measures to improve their productivity,” Oyebode added.
