Gov. Oyebanji approves payment of N1bn for arrears of gratuities to retirees

Gov. Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has approved payment of  N1 billion to retirees as part of efforts to offset backlog of outstanding gratuities.
Mr Yinka Oyebode, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, made this known in a statement on Friday in Ado-Ekiti.
Oyebode said that the payment was in fulfillment of the governor’s promise to prioritise welfare and wellbeing of workers and pensioners in the state.
He said that the approved payment was in line with Gov. Oyebanji’s pledge to put in place an arrangement to offset backlog of gratuities owed by previous administrations.
”The governor urges the senior citizens to  remain calm and optimistic as the government is committed to prioritising their welfare, having contributed to the development of the state during their active years,” the Special Adviser said.
