Gov Lawal again dismisses calls for peace accord, reconciliation with terrorists
The Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal has reiterated that his administration will continue to give terrorists a tough fight until they surrender and leave the entire state, describing those thinking of a peace accord and reconciliation with bandits as daydreamers.
The Governor was reacting to a sermon delivered by a prominent scholar in the state, Sheikh Ahmed Umar Kanoma who called on the state government to consider a peace accord and reconciliation process to restore sanity in the state.
News Men also gathered that scores of bandits were neutralized by the Nigeria Air Force in Dansadau forest of Zamfara State but the Islamic cleric had advised the state government to invite all the bandits’ leaders for a peace meeting to find a lasting solution to banditry activities.
“I have no reason reasonable enough to invite bandits that do not respect their words or value human lives for peace talks or any reconciliation.
“I still stand by my words that there will be no form of negotiation with bandits as I announced earlier on”
“How can you reconcile with somebody who goes out to kill and kidnap people just for the sake of money?
“How many times did the past administrations reconcile with the bandits? Did that work?
Governor Lawal, however, explained that if the bandits want reconciliation, they should come out of the forest and surrender their weapons.
The Governor also appealed to politicians to stop playing politics with security which he described as an evil wind that would not blow anybody any good.
“I am urging the people of the state particularly the politicians to stop playing politics with security”
