Gov Kefas vows to tackle education challenges in Taraba

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has said his administration would tackle all the challenges presently bedevilling schools spread across the state.

He stated this on Wednesday when he paid a surprise visit to some selected schools in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital.

Some of the schools visited include; Nyamusala Primary School and the College of Nursing and Midwifery.

The governor who also stormed the State Secretariat and State Specialist Hospital, said the aim of the visit was for his administration to have first-hand knowledge of the activities of the institutions.

While interacting with both the teachers and the students, he reiterated his administration’s commitment to addressing the numerous challenges confronting the education sector in the state.

He said the state civil service was in dire need of reforms, training and retraining of Civil servants which have been swept under the carpet, he said it will be revived.

During his interactive session with the students, a majority who bared their minds to the governor, appealed to him to wade into the College of Nursing and Midwifery School fees which they said was too exorbitant.

The governor who promised to look into their demands, urged the students to write a formal letter to the state government through the students union for urgent consideration.

He urged them to eschew acts capable of truncating their dreams and take their academic pursuit seriously.
