Gov. Fubara faces fresh impeachment plot from Rivers lawmakers

By Barth Ndubuwah, Port Harcourt

The Rivers State House of Assembly has embarked on a fresh plot to impeach the governor of the State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

The lawmakers according to our findings are accusing the Governor of breaching the peace pact brokered by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the Constitution of Nigeria.

The lawmakers vowed to resume the impeachment bid on the Governor if he continues to flout the Constitution.

This was contained in a statement issued in Port Harcourt over the weekend by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Martin Amaewhule on behalf of other lawmakers loyal to him.

The lawmakers equally explained that they withdrew their impeachment notice against Governor Fubara out of respect for President Tinubu and will not hesitate to renew it, if the Governor does not turn a new leaf.
