Gov Adeleke did not appoint nephew as deputy Rector — OSCOTECH

By Ismail Azeez, Osogbo

The management of Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke (OSCOTECH), has refuted recent allegations that Governor Ademola Adeleke appointed his nephew as the Deputy Rector of the institution, asserting that such claims are incorrect and deceptive.

Speaking on Friday in Osogbo, the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Abdulfatai Tijani, clarified that the polytechnic system does not allow the appointment of Deputy Rectors. He explained that the position is solely determined through an election by members of the academic community, emphasising that the report is entirely false.

According to him, “The writer is not well informed about the operations of the academic environment. The polytechnic system does not permit the appointment of Deputy Rectors.

“Deputy Rectors are always elected by members of the academic staff, so the story is completely untrue. Furthermore, the claim that Alhaji S.A. Adewumi is the governor’s nephew is entirely baseless. They are not related in any way. I am not speaking in defence of anyone; I am simply stating the facts as they stand.

“The power of the pen is immense, and anyone intending to publish information should verify the facts before going to press.”

Regarding ongoing projects within the institution, Tijani noted that the construction of the Mass Communication Department’s new building is nearing completion.

He reaffirmed the college’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with the media, which was the purpose of his familiarisation visit to the Correspondents’ Chapel.

“The Mass Communication Department’s building is almost finished, and the school remains committed to enhancing its collaboration with the media beyond previous levels.”
