Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has called on communities to enhance their efforts in clearing drainage waste to prevent flooding and boost environmental quality.
Speaking at the distribution of cleaning equipment to community development associations in Kano’s eight metropolitan Local Government Areas on Tuesday at Government House Kano, Yusuf highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to achieve these goals.
The State Government has supplied tools such as wheelbarrows, shovels, gloves, diggers, and first aid kits to aid community-led drainage cleaning. Yusuf urged communities to take responsibility for waste removal from drainage systems and to make effective use of the provided equipment.
Alhaji Ibrahim Umar, Chairman of the Community Development Associations in Kano, commended the government’s initiative and pledged that the associations would diligently use the materials to achieve the intended environmental improvements.
