Good governance: Vanguard Newspaper nominates Abiodun as Best Governor of the Year
The Ogun State State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has been nominated as the Best Governor of the Year 2021 by the Vanguard Newspaper.
Speaking after presenting the letter of nomination to the governor in his office at Oke-Mosan Abeokuta, the Deputy Editor of the Newspaper, Adekunle Adekoya, said the award is in recognition of what the administration has achieved using the Infrastructure, Social wellbeing, Education, Youth Development and Empowerment and Agriculture (ISEYA) in the last three years.
He explained that zeroing on Abiodun as the newspaper’s Governor of the Year took Vanguard four months of intense deliberation by looking at all indices.
“Governor Abiodun through ISEYA has transformed the state through the provision of good road network. Worthy of mention is the ongoing construction of the Atan-Lusada-Agbara road which would not only serve the companies operating there and the people. The Ijebu-Ode-Epe road would serve all Nigerians as it would save them the trouble of using the ever busy Lagos-Ibadan Expressway,” Adekoya added.
He commended the governor for dousing the political temperature of the state following the run up to the 2019 elections, saying “peace is needed for any meaningful development in any society.”
Responding, Governor Abiodun thanked the media house for the recognition, noting that the administration since inception, was committed to the development of the state through the provision of necessary infrastructural amenities to attract more investment and also make life better for the people.
He disclosed that in the last 31 months, the state government has performed creditably in every sphere of the state’s economy through the implementation of policies that make the state to be a hub of investors.
“As part of efforts aimed at improving the transportation sector, Ogun and Lagos state governments have opened discussions on how to extend the ongoing construction of blue and red line of the light rail to connect some parts of the state especially from Alagbado to Kajola and Okokomaiko to Agbara Industrial Estate, in order to fast track the movement of people and goods across the state,” Abiodun noted.
The governor expressed his appreciation to the media house for digging into the activities of his administration since inception, saying that the award would serve as a begining of a new relationship and spur his team to do more.
He, therefore, called on the newspaper to help in spreading the activities of his government to the people.
Describing the Vanguard Newspaper as one of the most reliable in the country for being factual and authoritative, Abiodun assured that his administration would continue to collaborate with the newspaper in its determination to building the future of the state together.
