GOD’S KINGDOM AND HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS
“BUT SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTHEOUSNESS AND ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED TO YOU’’ ( Mathew 6 vs. 33)
Beloved people seek God and His Kingdom indeed in our time. That is why they try to engage themselves in different activities in the place of worship regularly, and this is good. To be candid, seeking the Kingdom of God without his righteousness is an effort in futility which will take any believer to no where but hell. (Mathew 7 vs. 21-23) The bible even says, ‘for without holiness, no man shall see the Lord’ (Hebrew 12 vs. 14)’.
There are two major Kingdoms in the world today, the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of the devil. These two Kingdoms are two parallel lines that can never meet. A true believer cannot be part of the two Kingdoms at the same time on earth and go to heaven. (Mathew 6 vs. 24,) Joshua and his entire family in his lifetime chose to serve God alone. (Joshua 24 vs. 15 ) Likewise, Daniel, David, Abraham, Jacob , Job and others, God was able to vouch for them.
God in His wisdom also divided the earth into different Kingdoms and He expects all these Kingdoms to serve Him, the living God, alone. (Isaiah 45 vs. 22) He expects the head of all these Kingdoms to also dedicate their territories to Him. (Jeremiah 51 vs.17-18, Jeremiah 2 vs. 26-29) As a believer is expected to seek the Kingdom of God and his righteousness, so also is every Kingdom on earth not exempted. Failure of which the wrath of God is inevitable on the inhabitants of the earth. (Isaiah 42 vs. 13-17) Sodom and Gomorrah were victims of God’s wrath because He could not find ten righteous people in the two cities. (Genesis 18 vs. 20 – 33, Genesis 19 vs. 24 – 25)
ATTRIBUTES OF GOD’S KINGDOM
- It must be sought first: in the hierarchy of needs of a true believer, seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness is the first and the last on the list, as it qualifies him or her to have other needs met from above, if he/she believes.
2 It is God’s provision for mankind: Jesus Christ confirmed that there are many mansions in his father’s house. He even promised to prepare a place for us there so that we can be where he is on the last day. ( John 14 vs. 1-3)
- It exempts nobody: This is one of God’s good provision for mankind that does not exempt anybody except those that have hardened their heart to the true gospel of Christ Jesus and that have refused to accept Him as their personal Lord and Saviour. All you need to do to secure a place in God’s Kingdom is to repent from your sins and start to please your maker throughout your lifetime.
- It is moveable with consequences: The Kingdom of God must be brought first to your door step on earth in form of the gospel of Christ Jesus through evangelism. (Mathew 24 vs. 14) Your acceptance of Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour and your willingness to comply with His teachings and doctrines is what will guarantee your access to this Kingdom on the last day. Jesus said, ‘no one can come to the father except through me’. (John 14 vs. 6). Whoever rejects the gospel of Christ would blame himself later (Mark 6 vs. 10 – 12)
- It attracts other good things from above to you. There are other benefits from above that will accrue to you when the Kingdom of God is sought with righteousness which no mortal man can give. You will experience absolute rest in this troubled world. God will also give you His spiritual gifts which money cannot buy. ( Act 8 vs. 9 -21)
- It must be sought in righteousness: this is the most important aspect of our life that will make us to please the Lord and that will even make us to be qualified to stand in His presence to worship. (Psalm 24 vs. 3-4)
- It is an everlasting Kingdom: The kingdom of God is from everlasting to everlasting. (Psalm 145 vs.13) It is for those that have prepared themselves for the second coming of Christ in truth and in deed. All other kingdoms on earth shall be brought to an end.
You know the path you are threading on earth and where it will lead you to on the last day. The greatest thing God did for David was, leading him in the paths of righteousness, when he was alive. ( Psalm 23 vs. 3 ) This eventually made him to become a man after His heart. It is this same righteousness that exalts a nation. (Proverbs 14 vs. 34) There is no way we can serve and enjoy God as an individual and as a country if we neglect the holy path. We all can still amend our ways to please our maker.
Beloved, there are many Insurance and Assurance Policies in the world today but there is none that can guarantee you a place in eternity. Jesus Christ Assurance Policy is what we need now as sins have made all of us to fall short of the glory of God, as an individual and as a Country. Accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, repent and forsake your evil paths. Peradventure you do not have a place of worship, attend a bible believing church around your vicinity.
