Glo Foundation begins nationwide food drive with distribution in Bariga

Glo Foundation has launched an extensive food distribution initiative, beginning in Ilaje community, Bariga, Lagos State, as part of its concerted efforts to tackle food insecurity and extend crucial support to vulnerable groups.

The inaugural distribution, held over the weekend, marked the commencement of a nationwide relief campaign by Glo Foundation, aimed at reaching hundreds of thousands of Nigerians across multiple states.

The beneficiaries, primarily women, received food packages containing essential items such as rice, garri, spaghetti, noodles, tomato paste, toothbrushes, sardines, salt, vegetable oil, and seasoning cubes. The event took on a celebratory atmosphere, as recipients expressed their gratitude through songs and jubilant dancing.

Jumobi Mofe-Damijo, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at Globacom, reiterated the Foundation’s dedication to empowering families through this initiative. She stated that the organisation would implement a series of intervention projects designed to create meaningful impacts across various sectors, aligning with its overarching mission to uplift and support underprivileged communities.

The event was met with widespread appreciation, with beneficiaries applauding Glo Foundation for its generosity. Recipients such as Abiola Oladunjoye, Amarachi Peter, and Eunice Kehinde conveyed heartfelt gratitude, describing the food assistance as a much-needed lifeline during challenging times.

Abiola Oladunjoye expressed her appreciation, saying, “I truly appreciate this gesture. May the Almighty continue to protect and bless the company, bringing it greater success for remembering us.”

Eunice Kehinde, a hairdresser, commended Glo Foundation for extending the initiative to her community. She remarked, “Feeding my family has become increasingly difficult. With this food pack from Glo, we now have enough to sustain us for weeks.”

Michael Sunbola, Executive Director of Lagos Food Bank Initiative, praised Globacom’s commitment to the food drive and encouraged other corporate organisations to participate in similar initiatives to support underprivileged communities.

The Glo Foundation team is set to continue its outreach next Saturday, moving to another community in Lagos as part of its ongoing mission to provide relief and assistance to Nigerians in need.
