It was a moment of sheer excitement and disbelief for civil engineering contractor Ayobami Adejumobi as he was presented with the keys to a brand-new Toyota Prado, a prize he won in Globacom’s Festival of Joy promotion.

The event, which took place on Thursday in Lagos, marked the second prize-presentation of the Glo ‘Festival of Joy’ promo. Held at Gloworld on Adeola Odeku Street, the celebration saw Adejumobi, a 42-year-old contractor from Osun State, drive away in the luxurious vehicle, accompanied by friends and family. He was presented with the car by Globacom officials and the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat.

Speaking at the ceremony, Adejumobi expressed his profound gratitude to Globacom. “I still can’t believe it,” he said. “A call came from Globacom, and the news was too good to be true. At first, I doubted it—could it be fraudsters? But then I remembered the promo and how I had joined when it was launched. I immediately proceeded to the Gloworld, where the Glo officials were expecting me. I am truly thankful to Glo for this incredible prize. I will use the jeep personally; it will boost my status and help me secure more jobs as a civil engineering contractor.”

Other winners at the event also shared their excitement and gratitude towards Globacom for providing such an opportunity. Bukola Olatunji, from Ijebu-Ode, who won a Keke Napep, said, “I have always been a loyal participant in various Glo promos, and I’ve never lost hope that one day I would become a winner.” She pledged to continue participating in future Globacom promotions.

Ayodeji Olukunmi, a 33-year-old winner of a generator, also expressed his joy, saying, “It’s indeed a joyful time. Winning a brand-new generator means a lot to me. God bless Globacom.” Daniel Eleh, from Benue State, who won a sewing machine, remarked, “I was shocked and surprised when I received the call. Glo has always been generous to Nigerians.”

The Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, who was the special guest of honour at the event, commended Globacom for such thoughtful initiatives. “The good thing is that this is happening at a difficult time in the country,” he said. “We must thank Glo for this and pray that next year it will be even bigger. We would love to see the Chairman, Dr. Mike Adenuga, make it twice the size next year. May God continue to bless the company.”

Globacom’s Divisional Head, West, Lawrence Odediran, also addressed attendees, explaining that new and existing subscribers could participate in the Festival of Joy promo by dialling *611# to opt in. He encouraged participants to continue recharging their accounts (voice and data) during the promo period to remain eligible for the prizes on offer. New subscribers can join the promotion immediately by purchasing a new SIM, registering it, and dialling *611#.
