Gender Based Violence : Erelu Fayemi mmpowers survivors
Based Violence from across Ekiti State have received survivor funds Worth millions of naira to make themselves self reliant and rebuild their businesses.
Wife of Ekiti State Governor , Erelu Bisi Fayemi while disbursing the cash to the beneficiaries in her office in Ado Ekiti, said that the Gender Based Violence survivors fund was one of the key intervention areas of Ekiti State Government to Gender Based Violence as recommended in the Ekiti State Gender Based Violence (prohibition) Law.
Erelu Fayemi who said that the funds were not meant for frivolities but for development and empowerment reasonable to their wellbeing noted that previous beneficiaries of the funds are now doing well with their lives .
The Governor’s wife observed that the funds were given to the survivors irrespective of their tribes, political or religious affiliations , assuring that the gesture would not end with Governor Fayemi’s administration .
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary ,Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Adeluyi urged the benefitiaries to make judicious use of the funds .
One of the beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of others thanked the Governor’s wife for the initiative and pleaded for its continuity .
Meanwhile,the survivors funds were sourced from international donnor agencies and Ekiti is the only State in Nigeria that gives survivors fund which is used to support survivors of Gender Based Violence as they rebuild their lives. So far, the fund has supported a good number of survivors .
