GBB bolsters digital economy with high speed internet connectivity in 23 states 

Galaxy Backbone (GBB) has boosted the digital economy aspirations of Nigeria by deploying high speed internet connectivity.

In a post on their social media, GBB noted that it is fast connecting the nation via her high speed fibre internet for small businesses, corporate organisations, government and homes.

“High speed Internet connectivity over fibre, provided by Galaxy Backbone is now available across over 20 states of the Federation,” the post read.

Galaxy Backbone has connectivity in 23 locations notably in Abuja, Nassarawa, Benue, Kano, Gombe, Yola, Enugu, Anambra,  Edo, Delta, Imo, Ondo, Akwa Ibom, Rivers  and Lagos State.

The organisation had earlier deployed fibre optics to major cities across the federation under the first phase of the NICTIB project.

Earlier, the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, noted that Broadband connectivity plays a major role in the economic fortunes of countries around the world and a 10 per cent increase in broadband penetration can lead to growth in Gross Domestic Product in the region of 0.6 to 2.8 per cent.

Professor Pantami noted that the connectivity rollout will support the government’s effort in meeting the target of the Nigerian National Broadband Plan (2020 – 2025).
