Gateway United say target now away draw against Bayelsa United

Hakeem Busari, Head Coach of Gateway United Football Club, on Tuesday said his team would seek to claim at least a point in their away game against Bayelsa United FC.

The 2020/2021 Nigeria National League (NNL) Match Day 9 game will be played at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenogoa on Wednesday.

But the Abeokuta-based club’s Media Officer, Moses Ojewumi, in a statement said they were hopeful of upsetting their hosts who are yet to lose at home this season.

With two away losses, two draws and three wins, Bayelsa United are sixth with 11 points in Southern Conference Group B2, trailing fourth-placed Gateway United who have 13 points.

A hopeful Busari is however optimistic about picking points on a familiar terrain.

“We see this game as another opportunity to improve our away form.

“Our opponents drew in their last game against Holy Arrows in Delta and any team would want to consolidate at home. But we will take the fight to them.

“Only two points separate us from table-toppers Remo Stars, and that clearly shows we are not far from the top. But we have to walk the talk.

“We will give it our best shot as we also wish for mother-luck to smile on us,” the coach was quoted as saying.

Busari added that it had been a busy week for the team which would have their next game against Abia Comets.

“Promptly after our return, God willing, on Thursday we have to get ready for Abia Comets on Saturday.

“We must also not lose sight of that match. But we will take it one step at a time.”
