The Oil & Gas Trainers’ Association of Nigeria (OCTAN) on Wednesday will honour Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva, Director/Chief Executive Officer, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Auwalu Sarki and Nigerian NewsDirect daily newspaper.
Sylva will receive the award of ‘Gas Decade Personality Award’ in recognition of his huge contributions towards the development of Nigeria as a gas-based economy and the transition to a cleaner source of energy in alignment with the global energy transition and the sustainable development goal regarding inclusive energy access.
The awards will be presented at the OGTAN Annual General Meeting/Lecture Series scheduled to take place on April 28th 2021 at Eko Hotel & Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos by 2:00pm.
OGTAN President, Dr. Mayowa Afe stated that Sylva’s declaration of the Year of Gas in 2020 and the Decade of Gas from 2021-2030 is a call that will drive the synergies and stakeholders’ participation necessary for “the realization of our national agenda on Gas-based Industrialization.”
Nigerian NewsDirect daily newspaper is to be honoured as “The Best Local Content Newspaper award for 2020,” in recognition of its outstanding achievement at driving local content reportage. The presentation ceremony will take place at its 2021 Annual General Meeting/Lecture series holding in Lagos, Wednesday.
The President, OGTAN, Dr. Mayowa Afe in a signed statement with titled: ‘Outstanding Media Award 2020’ stated that Nigerian NewsDirect deserves the award for its efforts in coverage of all local content activities & events in the country.
According to his letter, “We are pleased to inform you that the Executive Council of the OCTAN noted unanimously with great pleasure your significant efforts in coverage of all Local Contents Activities & Events in the country.
“In recognition of this outstanding achievement, OGTAN has decided to confer on you ‘The Best Local Content Newspaper Award for the year 2020.’”
Also, OGTAN will honour the Director/Chief Executive Officer, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) Auwalu Sarki with the ‘Oil & Gas Innovative Award.’ This is in recognition of his numerous contributions and innovation that led to the build up towards the nation’s goals in line with the global energy transition and bring stability and expansion and participation to the national economy.
With the theme “Inclusive Human Capacity Development,” Afe explained that OGTAN will also confer fellowship awards on the distinguished members who have contributed immensely to the growth of the Association and the Oil & Gas Industry at large namely Managing Director, Falck Prime Atlantic – Mr Ayo Otuyalo, Managing Director SLC Resources – Mrs Michele Aiyegbusi, Dean Faculty of Engineering, Institute of Petroleum Studies, University of Port Harcourt – Professor Joel Ogbonna, Managing Director Deep Blue Energy Services – Mrs Anita Omoile, Managing Director Danvic Petroleum and Outgoing President of OGTAN – Dr Mayowa Afe.
