Gas explosion razes 300 shanties, affects school in Lagos community

A massive gas explosion occurred on Wednesday at the Tejuosho NTA 10 axis of Lagos State, triggering a fierce fire that destroyed over 300 wooden shanties in the area.

The blaze also spread to the nearby Saint Heritage Children School on Adedapo Street, off Aralile Street in Surulere, causing significant damage.

The explosion and subsequent fire razed a large portion of the shanty community, leaving many residents without homes or belongings.

The affected school was also severely damaged, raising concerns about the safety of the students and staff.

Emergency services and firefighters were deployed to the scene to contain the situation and prevent further destruction.

The cause of the gas explosion is yet to be determined, but investigations are ongoing.

“A gas explosion occurred at Tejuosho NTA Channel 10 axis, razing over 300 shanties. Residents and business owners are counting their losses,” according to reports.

An eyewitness appealed for urgent assistance, saying, “We need emergency response at Adedapo Street, off Aralile Street, Surulere.”
