Ganduje’s corruption case deepens, as Kano Govt files fresh fraud charges

The Kano State Government has filed fresh charges against Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the immediate past governor of the state and current National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, and his former Commissioner for Justice, Musa Lawan.

The charges include criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, and criminal misappropriation of N240 million.

According to the charge sheet, Ganduje and Lawan “dishonestly, fraudulently and without reasonable justification, in the abuse of your respective officers, conspired between yourselves, misappropriated, diverted and converted the sum of Two Hundred and Forty million naira to finance purely personal and private case for your own personal and private benefit thereby causing wrongful gain to yourselves and wrongful loss to the Government and people of Kano State.”

The prosecution intends to present four witnesses to testify against the defendants.

“.”The prosecution intended to present 4 witnesses and will at the trial of the Defendants adduce evidence to show that the 1st Defendant in betrayal of his official trust, taking advantage of his privileged position as the Governor and Chief Executive Officer of Kano State,” the charge sheet read.

In a statement, the Kano State Government vowed to prosecute the case to its logical conclusion, ensuring that justice is served.

“We will not tolerate corruption in any form,” said a government spokesperson. “Those who have abused their offices will be held accountable.”

However, no date has been fixed for the commencement of the trial.
