Gains in MTNN, Ellahlake, 26 others lift market capitalisation to N174bn

Following transaction in MTNN, Ellah lake and 26 others stocks, bullish sentiments which persisted on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), as MTNN, Ellah lake and 26 others stocks lifted market capitalization to N174 billion.

Absolutely, All-Share Index rose by 318.98 absolute points representing 0.62 per cent to close at 52,048.85 Index points from 51,729.87 Index points it closed trade on Wednesday.As a result, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 1.56 per cent.

The market upturn performance was driving by gains recorded in medium and large capitalized stocks amongst are MTNN, Zenith Bank, Ellah lake, Lasaco Assurance, Guaranty Trust Holding Company and others.

Yesterday’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session with the value of transactions down by 5.32 per cent .

A total trade of 211,742,512 shares valued at N7.725 billion were exchanged in 3,462 deals.

Mansard led the volume chart with 26.25 million units traded while Airtel Africa led the value chart in deals worth N4.14billion.

As measured by market breadth, market sentiments closed positive as Ellah lake led 28 gainers on the leaders table, while Abbeybds topped five losers on the laggard’s log.

On the leaders table, Ellah lake and LASACO Assurance emerged as the highest price gainer with 10.00 per cent each increased to close at N3.96 and N1.10 per share respectively.

International Breweries which recorded as the last third gainer went up by 8.60 per cent to close at N5.05 per share.

Dangote Sugar rose significantly by 7.19 per cent to close at N17.15 per share.

Sunu Assurance which recorded as the last fifth gainer grew by 6.90 per cent to close at N0.31 per share.

However, On the laggards log, Abbeybds topped the laggards table with 10 per cent to close at N1.53 per share, Chellaram which followed depreciated by 9.76 per cent to close at N1.48 per share, while Rt.briscoe which recorded as the last third loser dipped by 3.57 per cent to close at N0.27 per share.

Nigerian Aviation Handling Company lost 3.55 per cent to close at N6.80 per cent.

Royalex Exchange which recorded as the last fifth loser went down by 2.00 per cent to close at N0.98 per share.

Transaction in the shares of Mansard Insurance topped the activities chart with 26.251 million shares valued at N52.511 million, Guaranty Trust Holding Company which followed transacted 19.807 million shares worth N476.889 million, while Chams Plc traded 17.906 million shares valued at N4.447 million.

Royalex Exchange sold 14.207 million shares worth N13.378 million, while First Bank Holding of Nigeria traded 11.823 million shares worth N131.374 million.
