Gaining one point means a lot, Akwa United coach says

Deji Ayeni, the Chief Coach of Akwa United Football Club of Uyo, says his team’s performance against hosts Enyimba International FC of Aba meant a lot to them.

News reports that the 2020/2021 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions drew goalless with Enyimba on Wednesday in a Group A Match Day 2 fixture.

Ayeni told NAN in Aba on Thursday that their performance was not outrightly disappointing.

“The one point we picked up in the draw with Enyimba in Aba means a lot for us,” Ayeni whose team had lost 0-2 to Bendel Insrance FC in their Match Day 1 fixture at home on Jan. 8 said.

He however said they were hopeful of getting either a point or the full three points in their next game, away on Saturday against Nasarawa United FC of Lafia in Jos.

The coach also said he was hopeful they would have something to show for their efforts by the end of the abridged 2022/2023 league competition.
