FUNAAB student reportedly missing murdered by abductor in Lagos

Christiana Idowu, a student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), who was abducted while traveling between Ikorodu and Yaba in Lagos State, has been confirmed dead. The Student Union Government president of FUNAAB, Ibrahim Adeyemi, informed our correspondent via telephone on Thursday that the abduction has ended tragically. “We can confirm that she was killed by her captors. We will address this matter soon,” Adeyemi stated.

On August 26, a family member revealed that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of N3 million for Christiana’s release. She had been traveling from her home in the Itaoluwo area of Ikorodu to the University of Lagos in Yaba, where she was undertaking industrial training, when she was taken.

The source explained that after losing contact with Christiana, the kidnappers contacted the family through her phone and insisted on the N3 million ransom. Despite the family’s appeals, the kidnappers eventually reduced their demand to N350,000, which the family paid. However, the abductors did not release Christiana even after receiving the money.

In a related development, a post on X by user @letter_to_jack revealed that intelligence operatives traced the abductor’s location using the BVN and account details associated with the ransom payments. The post detailed that by August 29, operatives confirmed the account linked to the ransom transactions and discovered that the suspect had withdrawn N100,000 before the account was frozen by the betting company.

Further investigation led operatives to a location in Ikorodu, Lagos State, where Christiana’s family also resides. The operatives discovered that the suspect had a known relationship with Christiana, evidenced by their interactions on Instagram. Tracking his phone activities eventually led the operatives to his parents’ residence in Ikorodu.

Attempts to obtain comments from Christiana’s family were unsuccessful, as calls and messages to the family source went unanswered. Additionally, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin did not respond to messages or calls from our correspondent.
