Governor and Visitor to Osun State University, Ademola Adeleke, has approved the recommendation of the Adebooye-led Management of Osun State University to dole out palliative to all staff of the University to cushion the effect of the fuel subsidy removal.
This information was made known in a statement issued by the University Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, on Thursday.
The statement partly reads: “The University Management, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor ‘Ayo Clement Adebooye, having observed that the high cost of inter-campus commuting will have a high negative effect on staff of the University, recommended to the Governor, a disbursement of palliative, which he graciously approved with immediate effect.
“The Executive Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, approved the recommendation of Management for payment of palliative to UNIOSUN staff because of the high cost of inter-campus commuting during this period of high petrol price. The University immensely thanks His Excellency for his approval, and we remain loyal as a community.”
Reacting to the goodwill, the Chairman of the University’s Joint Action Congress of NAAT, NASU and SSANU, Comrade Isaiah Fayemi, on behalf of all members of the unions, appreciated the Vice-Chancellor, his Management team and the Executive Governor for the magnanimity.
He affirmed that the palliative is a way of motivating staff and implored all staff to be more committed to their duties and discharge them conscientiously.
