FRSC deploys 900 marshals for Easter in Rivers
..Tasks motorists on defensive driving
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps,Rivers State Command, Salisu Galadunci said he deployed a total of 900 personnel, comprising 500 regular and 400 special marshals for this year’s Easter celebration, promising the people of Rivers State a hitch-free drive during the season.
This was contained in a press statement issued by the Route Commander and Public Enlightenment Officer, Juliana Eni in Port Harcourt and made available to journalists.
According to the statement, the deployed marshals have been directed to patrol the highways of the entire State to ensure free flow of traffic and respond to any emergency where it may occur.
The Sector Commander said about 30 patrol vehicles and two ambulances have stationed at strategic places to aid the exercise.
Commander Galadunci further stated that the Special Operation will adopt the engagement of the motoring public through intensive public enlightenment and traffic surveillance activities among other things, with a view to regulating and checking the excesses of bad driving habits of motorists.
He advised the people of Rivers State to avoid over speeding, drunk driving, making calls while driving, pointing out that the period is meant for us to exhibit good conducts as exmplified by Jesus Christ because of whose sacrifice we are all living today.
