FRSC begins ‘Operation Show Your Drivers’ Licence’ in Rivers

T he Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Rivers State Command, Salisu Galadunci has directed a two day enforcement tagged “Operation Show Your Driver’s Licence” in Rivers.
According to a statement signed by the Route Commander & Public Enlightenment Officer of the Command, Juliana Eni, the move became necessary due to the rate at which motorists drive without drivers’ licence on the highways in Rivers State, which is against requirement of the provisions of Laws of the State and the Federation.
The Corps Commander stated that the rate at which motorists speed on the highways within Port Harcourt metropolis is worrisome, thus the need to checkmate it by ensuring that motorists who ply the roads are first of all licenced to drive.
The Sector Commander, therefore directed his operatives in Port Harcourt, Eleme, Ahoada, Isiokpo and Bonny Island to vigorously embark on the special enforcement to clamp down on those who go against the laws, for not driving with drivers’ licence and other violations of traffic rules and regulations, so as to instill discipline in drivers on the highways.
To this end, he stressed that his men are tutored to operate strictly under the principles of being fair, firm and friendly.
“The general public is hereby strongly requested to be law abiding and to give the personnel the necessary cooperation to achieve this. This is being done in the best interest of the good people of Rivers State, since one who drives without driver’s licence is as good as one who is driving with licence to kill. The special operation is to commence as from Tuesday 4th to 8th April, 2023,” the Sector Commander said.
