The founder of FABE and the convener of the Ecoschools project, Mrs Temitope Okunnu, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Lagos.

NAN reports that the Ecoschools project trains schoolchildren in gardening, recycling and up-cycling to help them mitigate the effects of climate change realities.

“On Wednesday, we will be unveiling the Eco-Ambassadors and participants that have done so well during the course of the training.

“We trained the participants for 10 months on climate action, and how they can live sustainable lifestyle through recycling and upcycyling,” Okunnu told NAN.

She added that the foundation trained students in 16 public schools in the state.

“We were able to train students in 16 public schools and we want to reward both the participants and teachers for their resilience throughout the training.

“We are wrapping up the programme for the year 2022 and recognising outstanding students on their performance,” she added.

The environmentalist also called for more support in equipping the next generation on environmental sustainability lifestyles.

“We are in collaboration with the Ogun State Ministries of Education and Environment to equip children on sustainable lifestyles.

“We hope to get more support from the Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and Youth Development for the 2023 Ecoschools project.

“The Ecoschools project is fully funded by the Aspire Coronation Trust (ACT) Foundation, and supported by the Coca-Cola Foundation.
