The former Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has pledged to stand by his successor, Governor Francis Nwifuru, and confront any troublemakers. Umahi made this declaration in Abakaliki while addressing journalists, emphasizing the importance of respecting Governor Nwifuru’s leadership.
Despite acknowledging the common rifts between predecessors and successors, Umahi asserted his commitment to avoiding such conflicts, attributing his stance to divine blessings. He expressed unwavering support for Governor Nwifuru, highlighting their shared journey, particularly during the challenging decision to switch to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
‘I will stand firm against anyone who challenges the governor; he deserves our reverence,’ Umahi affirmed. ‘Having fulfilled my role, I must now step back and uphold my dignity.’ Reflecting on leadership dynamics, he stressed the futility of seeking others’ downfall and affirmed his longstanding association with Governor Nwifuru, spanning 16 years.
‘Our responsibility is to support and uphold each other,’ he concluded.
