Former Anambra Commissioner declares for House of Reps

The immediate past Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget and Development Partners in Anambra State, Mr Mike Okoye, has declared his intention to contest for Anaocha, Dunukofia and Njikoka Federal Constituency.

Okoye declared his intention during a meeting with members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Ifitedunu Ward 1, Ward 2 and Ward 3 in Dunukofia Local Government Area on Tuesday.

He also gave the constituents the scorecard of his sojourn to Anambra Government House where he served for consecutive 10 years as Special Adviser and Commissioner in the administrations of Mr Peter Obi and Chief Willie Obiano.

Okoye, whose aspiration was greeted with rousing approval, said he was for their support and blessing as he began a new chapter in his political career.

He thanked the people of Dunukofia and other Local governments in the Federal Constituency for their performance during the previous gubernatorial elections while assuring that he would not betray their trust.

“My journey thus far has been driven by the support of the people and I do not take this support for granted.

“My ambition is solely focused on bringing quality representation to the people and extending the APGA agenda to the federal level,” he said.

Okoye said his aspiration to the Federal House of Representatives would be a bigger and better platform to continue his service to Anambra and the Gov. Charles Soludo administration.

According to him, “Having had the privilege of working on the ‘Soludo Solution’ Agenda with our Governor and my boss, HE Chukwuma Soludo, it is evident that his plan will require significant resources and support to effectively implement his vision.

“I am offering myself to be the voice that champions the Anambra agenda in the green chambers,” he said.

In a remark, Mr Chike Odoji, APGA Youth Leader in the state said he was confident that Okoye would do well and should be supported.

Odoji said Okoye was the best among the aspirants who had indicated interest for the constituency in the National Assembly and that his candidature would give APGA superior advantage at the polls.

Other stakeholders of the party in Dunukofia spoke glowingly of Okoye’s political asset and the need to send him to Abuja in the interest of development and progress of the constituency.
