Forced kiss: Rubiales’ mother goes on hunger strike, locks self in church

Angeles Bejar, the mother of Luis Rubiales has locked herself in a church.

The woman has also begun a hunger strike until her son is cleared.

Reports in Spain said the woman has vowed to remain in the church until the case is settled in favour of her son.

The 46-year-old Luis Rubiales has refused to step down from his position despite being provisionally suspended by FIFA.

The FA chief has been widely condemned across the world for kissing Jenni Hermoso.

Rubiales kissed the forward on the lips without her consent during their medal presentation at the 2023 FIFA Women World Cup.

Rubiales had refused to resign after an emergency assembly was called last Friday.

But his mother, Bejar, has now declared a hunger strike until a solution is found .

She believes that her son is going through an “inhumane and bloody witch hunt”

Spanish news agency, EFE reports that pensioner Bejar and her sister-in-law snuck into the church.

They checked into the Divina Pastora de Motril Church in Granada on Monday morning.

They have refused to leave even after the priest had left.

She says she will not eat or leave the church.
