Flood: Why I danced in church despite ‘Bayelsans’ suffering – Gov Diri
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has explained why he was caught on camera dancing and jubilating despite the flooding across the state.
Nigerians expressed their anger on social media, watching the state’s number one citizen dancing during the 11th annual thanksgiving of the state at the Ecumenical Centre in Igbogene.
During the event, the Governor commended the people for turning out in masses for the event despite being displaced and rendered homeless by the floods.
Nigerians had slammed the governor on social media, describing his action as callous and inhuman.
But speaking during an interview on Arise Television’s The Morning Show, Diri pointed out that the word of God only moved him.
“In Bayelsa, we signed into law a bill that by every 2nd of November, there will be thanksgiving in the state.
“And this year was not an exception. I was encouraged by the bible [which says we should thank God in all situations],” he said.
